Kitchen Remodel in Princeton Junction

Stone Creek Builders just finished a kitchen remodel in Princeton Junction, NJ.  This remodel began with a full demolition of the customer’s existing kitchen.  From the removal of all the old cabinets, countertops, flooring, and tile, to the old lighting fixtures, and appliances—everything had to go.  The remodel also consisted of several structural changes, including a relocation of a supply duct, widening of the doorway to the living room, and the removal of a soffit to accommodate the new cabinet layout.

The new kitchen boasts custom built-ins, recessed and under-cabinet lighting, installation of new base molding and casing, a new Andersen sliding door to the patio, and reinforced and newly tiled floors.  In addition, a custom island was created, a soffit above the Anderson slider was reframed, and a new microwave hood was installed, vented to the exterior.

The entire backsplash was also tiled, new appliances were connected, and to finish, the room was completely repainted.

Bathroom Remodel in Old Bridge, NJ

Stone Creek Builders will begin work on a bath remodel in Old Bridge, NJ, in early April.  The remodel will include a complete demolition of the old bathroom—removal of sheetrock, finishes, toilet, bathtub, and tile.  The site manager will also inspect the insulation within the walls and, depending on the condition, will install or replace with new insulation where necessary.

The renovation will include installation of new plumbing fixtures, light fixtures above the sink, moisture-resistant sheetrock, tile for floor, bath accessories, and painting of room.  This entire project should only take six business days to complete.

Bathroom Renovation in Middletown, NJ

Stone Creek Builders has been awarded a new remodeling project in Middletown, NJ.  The project consists of renovating both a main bathroom and a master bathroom.  Both rooms will have complete demolition, which will consist of removing fixtures, tile, all finishes, soffits, and sheetrock.

We will be re-sheetrocking with moisture-resistant sheetrock, replacing plywood and subfloor as needed, installing new tile, painting walls and trim, installing and properly venting new bath fans, and fastening all fixtures.  A licensed electrician will add new recessed lighting and dimmers for both bathrooms.  They will also install new GFCI circuits from the panel, to bring the wiring of both bathrooms up to code.

The Master bathroom will have a new shower stall and schluter shower pan kit installed, while the Main bathroom will have its radiator shortened, to make room for the installation of a new 6’ tub.   We will also be converting the double sinks in the main bath, to create a singular sink.

Work will begin on this site in around April 1st, and should last about a month.

Soil Boring and House Lifting

Soiling drilling occurringWhen lifting your home, it is very important to investigate the condition of the soil. Stone Creek Builders utilizes a process called soil boring, using state of the art equipment. During the soil boring process, we drill deeply into the ground and collect soil samples, as well as blow counts.  A large piston drives a rod into the ground and the distance the rod travels with each blow is recorded. The distance traveled per blow provides an insight into the soil density.

After obtaining the soil boring results, we have a licensed structural engineer evaluate the test and make recommendations for foundation construction. If the soil is non-compressible, then standard construction procedures can be used. There are many factors that can change the recommendation of the engineer, such as: height of lift, soil compression, flood zone, height of structure, existing foundation conditions, etc. Based on the findings and recommendations, we either add on to the existing foundation, retro fit the existing foundation with helical piers or concrete piles, move the house and install wood piles, reconstruct a new concrete column foundation or a combination of all of the above.

When lifting any home, it is critical to go through this process to eliminate the chance of moderate to severe settling and building collapse.

Super Storm Sandy and Stone Creek Builders

It's been over 100 days since Sandy.  In her wake, the entire coast of NJ affected by the hurricane pulled together as if we were one small, tight community.  Our company was deluged with requests for assistance, and we worked together with our neighbors and future customers, assisting them in whatever way we could.  From reconstruction information, toinsurance claim questions, to requests about FEMA, to house-raising pricing, we gave our best effort to anyone affected by the storm who contacted us.  And if there was information we could not give immediately, we did our best to research and follow-up in a timely fashion, with accurate answers.

In that same spirit, attorney Joseph A. Porelli has been assisting many businesses and homeowners affected by the storm.  Mr. Porelli’s office has been offering free insurance claim seminars, with topics ranging from the difference between homeowners insurance versus flood insurance, to how to report and handle property damage loss, to what you should do if your claim was denied, deemed inadequate, or if new damages due to the storm appear.  Information about these seminars can be found on his website:http://www.thepropertydamageblog.com/p/free-sandy-seminars.html

We used this website as one of our sources of information, and we’re hoping you will find answers to some of the questions you may have.  As always, if there’s any help you need, with regard to picking up the pieces left behind by any ‘Super Storm’, please call for a free estimate as soon as possible.  We’re here for you.

Reconstructing a Home in Bellevue Place

After the devastation of Sandy, many homeowners had to begin the rebuilding process.   Stone Creek Builders is working to help re-construct the first floor of a waterfront home in Seabright, NJ.  During the wake of Sandy, it pushed two feet of water into the home, which caused extensive damage to the kitchen, bathroom, living room and all of the remaining rooms on the lower level.  Not only was the HVAC system and ductwork flooded, but they were completely full of water from the storm surge.

As part of our service, we demolished the main floor to expose all of the structural members, which is necessary per the criteria set forth in the industry.  Once we have the power and heat restored to the home, we will begin to rebuild it.  And while this home is like many homes that were damaged from the flooding, the last thing any homeowner should have to worry about is how all the reconstruction that needs to occur, will occur.  We will sort through all the processes and will make it happen in a timely fashion.

We understand how much devastation and chaos the storm caused, which is why we are working hard to restore the damaged homes to better-than their original state.  We want to help families get back to a level of normalcy.  Regardless of how large or small the project is, we are working to help families, like the one at Bellevue Place, take control of their housing situation quickly and efficiently.
